Subject:	NBI Upgrade Weekly Status 9/2/11

Mike,

NBI Upgrade:  The armor calculation has been completed and forwarded for checking. VV 
reinforcement analysis and optimization continued this week with steady progress. Welding 
details in the model and modeling issues are being studied. Requisitions and pcard orders were 
prepared and approved for BL, Controls, and TVPS hardware. Work on the N4 Local Control 
Centers to update A,B, and C to present the design has begun. Preparations to begin N4 Power 
supply and controls work has also started.

NBI Refurbishment:  Calorimeter disassembly  has been completed and awaits parts on order to 
begin refurbishment and reassembly. Ion Dump plate, manifold, and stand fabrication continues. 
Platform component fabrication for the 118 ft. elevation continues in the shop. Bellows welding 
continues as welding availability permits. The cryogenics insulation on the lid cryopiping will 
have to be refurbished and a replacement product for the original disintegrated element is being 
sought.
