Subject: NBI Upgrade Weekly Status 9/18/09
Al,

NBI Upgrade:  WAF reviews have taken place on management, sources, decontamination, power and control, duct, TVPS, vacuum vessel modifications, NBI armor, BL refurbishment, relocation, and services. A WAF review of NTC equipment relocations has been scheduled for next week. Additional work on the BL refurbishment WAF is needed. The need for a separate WAF for Health Physics technical support has been identified and started. Evaluations of project risks and retirement of those risks have been the focus of discussion in addition to technical, cost, and schedule items.

NBI Decon:  Decontamination work has proceeded steadily on the magnet, magnet shield, and 90 inch flange. Levels have been dropping steadily. Some shield disassembly has begun to improve access to surfaces. Decontamination floor areas have been expanded to provide room for parts. Techniques for decon on the box and lid are being evaluated. To support decontamination efforts, an additional HP technician has been identified and hired. Training is underway and nearly complete.

Regards,

Tim
