Subject: NBI Upgrade Weekly Status 5/14/10
Al,

NBI Upgrade: Work on WAF updates continue primarily to include line item contingencies. Armor analysis continues with good convergence with the models. A tile vendor visited PPPL to discuss tiles and testing. Calculations for armor and vessel interplay due to bakeout growth were done to include accommodations in the design of the plate support mounting hardware. On the duct, upper and lower inner shielding has been incorporated in the model for Bay K port extension with more to follow. The vendor for the original BL1 rectangular bellows which has been in service for 5 years sent a budgetary quote. The quote is in line with previous job estimates. Refinements to the model for the TVPS design to include commercially available hardware dimensions continues.

NBI Decon:  Decon resumed on the interior of the box and on the ion dump this week.  The test locations to measure regrowth will be evaluated this week. Area maintenance was also performed. Effort was also invested to consolidate the entry area and changeout area at the desk in the Test Cell. Accommodations have been made for entry, maintenance, and detailed surveys for this area.

Regards,

Tim
