Subject: NBI Upgrade Weekly Status 3/25/11
Mike,
NBI
Upgrade: A NBI meeting was held this week to discuss job status and
plans. Most notably, the TVPS system design details made very significant
progress in the last two weeks. Analysis for the magnetic shielding was
completed and a calculation report drafted for review. The TVPS model can now
be updated so supports can be finalized and drawings can be generated. Efforts
on drawings continued on the BL services. Work continues on the details and the
analysis of the Bay K and Bay L VV modifications and the interstitial vessel
wall between them. Reinforcements are planned to address stresses in this area.
Thermal analysis on the armor has been refined with improved graphite data for
a final set of passes for the ATJ graphite tile choice.
To
free space for Center Stack fabrication, NBI crews will participate in clearing
the CS high bay to make room for the Center Stack oven. This move requires
relocation of hardware to the TFTR Test Cell. Planning for this move is
underway. Refurbishment activities on the BL in the TFTR TC will resume after
this move has been completed.

Tim
