Subject: NBI Upgrade Weekly Status 3/11/11
Mike,
NBI
Upgrade: Due to a change in personnel on the NBIU project, efforts have
focussed on realigning jobs and handing off scope to appropriate engineers.
This process has been completed. The NBI Peer Review has been scheduled
for April 19, 2011. An agenda will be developed but will follow the previous in
house peer review format. Armor analysis continued to document scenarios
for the upcoming peer review and FDR. Effort on the turbopump magnetic
shielding analysis has indicated that the TVPS design is sound. A minor
physical adjustment will be incorporated and the confirmatory analysis will be
completed to show that the turbos will be as good or better than the existing
design despite closer proximity to the machine. With this last piece of the
TVPS in place, structural details will now be finalized. Efforts continue on
drawings for BL, power, services, controls, and TVPS. A small peer review was
held to discuss the upcoming vacuum vessel modification mockup tests planned
for next month in the Technical Shop. A draft Test Plan has been written and
was discussed. This review also discussed concerns about bracing and
installation of the Bay K cap weldment including lift fixtures.

Tim
