Subject:	NBI Upgrade Weekly Status 7/01/11

NBI Upgrade:  Armor analysis calculation documentation continues. Effort continues on 
drawings. Chit resolution for the single NBI FDR chit was readily resolved because it was a near 
duplicate of an EIR recommendation which had already been addressed earlier this fiscal year.

NBI Refurbishment: Ion dump full energy plate fabrication continues in the shop. Ion source 
refurbishment has started on a first source for the upgrade to take advantage of efficiencies 
gained by following the spare source rebuilds for operations this past outage. Reassembly of the 
BL 90 inch flange OMA boxes began in the Test Cell. Surveys of contamination indicate that 
levels have stayed low. Air breathing hoods were not required for this reassembly step. Magnet 
surveys were also performed and likewise low levels were indicated. HP coverage continues to 
keep pace with this effort.
