Subject: NBI Upgrade Weekly Status 2/26/10
Al,

NBI Upgrade:  Preparations for the Peer Review are underway. Some testing of cutting techniques on stainless plates to simulate the vacuum vessel modification has been performed. Significant strides on the armor analysis have been made on both thermal loading and mounting point mechanical loads. In both cases analysis supports the validity of the conceptual design. Additional diagnostics details are being considered to add to duct and armor. Platform design continues to be developed to accommodate operations and maintenance requirements on both beamlines.

NBI Decon:  Decon on lid and box continued this week using sprayers. Very significant reductions in contamination on the beamline walls have been noted in recent surveys. The floor levels are declining but at a slower rate because the floor is the collection point for the effluent water. Preliminary work on the ion dump is scheduled to start perhaps as soon as next week. HP and ERWM support continues to fully keep pace with the progress of the job. A rad laundry shipment has been collected and is scheduled to get moved out of the Test Cell sometime in the next week.

Regards,

Tim
