Subject: NBI Upgrade Weekly Status 8/21/09

NBI Upgrade:  Each NBI upgrade job has reported to project management for technical, cost, and schedule. The development of the resource loaded schedule is in progress. Several engineers attended the Centerstack Peer Review last week to look at interface and interference issues with the machine and proposed structures especially in the duct region. 

NBI: Duct: A prototype model of the BayJ-K region and weldment concept is being considered to physically evaluate handling, welding access, clearances, and lift issues.

NBI Decon:  The 90 inch flange was removed and lifted off of the BL this week. It has been placed in its stand in the floor area. Decon took place on the magnet. Preparations are underway to test the Lid lift fixture on BL4. The Lid lift is planned for later this month.

NBI Armor: Initial thermal analysis of the neutral beam armor carbon tiles has begun. Various tile materials are being researched and considered.
