Subject: NBI Upgrade Weekly Status 4/9/10
Al,

NBI Upgrade: The accommodations necessary for MSE-LIF diagnostic have been incorporated into the Armor design. Bay J-K cap and port modification preliminary design is complete. Design focus has moved on to details for the RWM coil that surrounds these ports. Investigation continues for vendor quotes on the large rectangular and 40 inch circular bellows for the NBI duct. Six companies have been contacted. A gas shielded plasma cutter was ordered and when it arrives (1-2 weeks) tests on SS plates will be performed to determine if this method will be suitable for the Bay J & K port removals and the vacuum vessel modification.

NBI Decon:  A series of digital photos of components were taken from within the contaminated areas to show progress and document equipment. These photos will contribute to the Peer Review presentations. Comprehensive surveys of ion dump and calorimeter were performed this week to provide current data to the Peer Review scheduled for 4/21/10. Data analysis continued to assess levels and show trends. Full hands on decon of the box interior continued also with wipe downs. Remedial decon of floors and periphery in the Test Cell continued to maintain areas. HP support continues to be outstanding.

Regards,

Tim
