One area of concern is the effect of stress concentrations in the brittle graphite material. No published data on how to design for the T- slots in graphite. Plan on minimizing the concentration and then pull testing a sample. Kelsey will provide drawings of samples for Test Lab to fabricate and pull test. Action: Jim Chrzanowski to provide another copy of the VV to PP bracket weld procedure to Titus. Procedure contains as-built information on the welds between the VV and bracketry required to complete the analysis and qualify the welds. CS Bellows Calculation (Rogoff) (see VGs) Peter reviewed the status of his analysis on the CS Bellows. Analysis was performed using the thermal cycling from bakeout and the vacuum load on the bellows. The analysis indicates the bellows will easily meet the fatigue life requirements in the GRD. Update VV Analysis and Aluminum OTF Leg Blocks (Titus) (See VGs) We have been unable to locate material certs or other information to provide a good strength qualification for the OTF Leg aluminum mounting blocks. The analysis performed assumes a minimum strength aluminum alloy was used without heat treatment. The analysis using these numbers indicates that reinforcement of the aluminum block flanges will be required. We will attempt to perform a chemical analysis on a sample taken from one of the blocks and use a portable Rockwell hardness tester to measure the actual hardness of the installed blocks to bracket the material strength. Pete also presented the latest static and dynamic analysis of the VV to Leg connections. Stresses look acceptable at 40-70 MPa. PAST ACTION ITEMS: -Woolley to update % complete "DCPS TF Inner Leg Torsional Shear Stress ", "OOP PF/TF Torques on TF" (Items 34 & 36) -Jim C to provide need dates for Analysis of CSU Poloidal Field Coils and Poloidal Magnetic Quantites for the Feb 2010 Provisional Design (Items 81 & 82) -Titus to provide (item 39) coupled DCPS moment influence coefficients to Hatcher (12/15) Viewgraphs will be posted by B.
