All,
HM provided some interesting comments about the workshop, and I added some
notes. See attached.
Also attached is a cartoon depiction of another TF joint concept. The
constant tension flag section would be divided into three parts, one flexible
OOP, one stiff, and one flexible IP. It would be clamped to a box with G10
liners and "ears" which would extend radially inward to provide support to the
OOP flex. After installation of all flags and boxes, a ring would be attached
over them, engaging them with teeth and bolts. Then the umbrella lid would be
installed and bolted to the box ring and a G10 ring bolted to the ends of the
inner leg conductors for torsional loading. For axial thermal expansion the
umbrella lid would have teeth on its outer edge which would engage with the
umbrella itself.
