Subject:                          NBI Upgrade Weekly Status 11/5/10

Al,

NBI Upgrade:  The sample SS plate for the VV cutting tests has been rolled and received to allow a full scale cutting test and cap weld test simulating the VV modifications. This test will also evaluate VV deflections. Due to Lithium, carbon ATJ has been selected as the plasma facing material of choice so an assessment of the associated armor tile cost reduction is underway. The armor preliminary drawings are complete. Effort on drawings for services and duct continues.

NBI Refurbishment: Additional effort to clear the platform for laydown area on the 102' level continues. Drawings for the full energy ion dump have been reviewed. Some older drawings will be converted to CAD and redrawn.

Regards,

Tim
