Subject:                          NBI Upgrade Weekly Status 2/18/11

Mike,

NBI Upgrade:  For the vacuum vessel modification, evaluation of the weld design for the Bay K cap continues. The global model shows stresses between Bay K and L that require attention. Design details are being considered to ameliorate stresses in this area. This item is the last main area to be resolved in preparation for the Peer Review. At the BL2 meeting this week, this weld item, the armor, and the bellows were discussed and appear to be in good shape. The existing duct was checked for clarification of details to be incorporated in drawings. A significant amount of designer time is yet required for NBI to prepare for the FDR in June. No refurbishment activities were planned this week due to outage tasks taking near term precedence.

Regards,

Tim
