Subject: NBI Upgrade Weekly Status 2/5/10
Al,

NBI Upgrade:  Per a request from Diagnostics, a sight line for NPA is being considered at the Bay K port plug and if possible this design detail will be included. Platform concept layouts continue. Several job engineers attended a vacuum technology course held here at PPPL. Management attended the CS weekly meeting. In addition to CS design and analysis presentations, project  systems engineering issues regarding the FMEA, GRD, SRD, and SDD were discussed with good results.

NBI Decon:  Decon on lid and box continued using sprayers. As the contamination washes down the box walls to the floor, immediate progress has been noted on the tops of the walls on the first few surveys. Drums of contaminated water effluent were solidified for disposal. Drum contents have been surveyed for tritium inventory.

Regards,

Tim
